ConAgra To Pay $4.3M Over Oil Trade Settlement

Law360, New York (August 17, 2010, 5:15 PM EDT) -- ConAgra Foods Inc. will dish out $4.3 million to the buyers of the company's former trading unit to eliminate any liability from a $12 million oil-futures settlement with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

ConAgra's payout "eliminates any potential for a dispute to arise" with the unit's buyers over liability from the CFTC settlement, the company said in the filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday. "During fiscal 2010, ConAgra Foods recognized charges within discontinued operations in anticipation of resolution of this matter."...
