Bayer Agrees To Phase Out Aldicarb By 2015

Law360, New York (August 17, 2010, 3:32 PM EDT) -- Bayer CropScience AG announced Tuesday it has reached a deal with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to end production of its aldicarb pesticide by 2015, citing EPA findings that the chemical may no longer meet the most rigorous federal food safety standards.

Aldicarb, an N-methyl carbamate insecticide for agricultural crops marketed under the name Temik, will be voluntarily phased out of production by Dec. 31, 2014, according to Bayer CropScience, a subsidiary of Bayer AG.
