Lexmark Launches Offensive Over Ink Cartridge Patents

Law360, New York (August 23, 2010, 4:02 PM EDT) -- Lexmark International Inc. has lodged actions in federal court and the U.S. International Trade Commission in an effort to stop more than 20 companies, including China-based Ninestar Image Co. Ltd., from importing and selling items that allegedly infringe 21 patents for ink cartridges.

Kentucky-based Lexmark claims that foreign manufacturers, distributors and retailers are selling knockoff cartridges as replacements for the plaintiff's products, according to a complaint filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
