House Committee Probes Massive Egg Recall

Law360, New York (August 24, 2010, 11:36 AM EDT) -- The House Energy and Commerce Committee is requesting documents and inspection records from two Iowa farms linked to the voluntary recalls of more than 550 million eggs over potential salmonella contamination, part of its probe into the causes of the latest food safety crisis.

Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., and oversight and investigation subcommittee Chairman Bart Stupak, D-Mich., sent the requests for information on Monday to Wright County Egg owner Austin DeCoster and Hillandale Farms of Iowa President Orland Bethel.
