Dewey Helps MetLife Secure EU OK For $16B AIG Deal

Law360, New York (August 24, 2010, 1:12 PM EDT) -- The European Union has bestowed its blessing on MetLife Inc.'s $15.5 billion purchase of American International Group Inc. units American Life Insurance Co. and Delaware American Life Insurance Co., allowing the deal to go through without restrictions as AIG sheds assets to pay off a U.S. government bailout.
