AGA Says WL Gore Infringes Heart Device Patent

Law360, New York (August 25, 2010, 2:41 PM ET) -- Medical device manufacturer AGA Medical Corp. has filed an infringement lawsuit alleging W.L. Gore & Associates is muscling in on a patent AGA Medical holds for a device used to treat structural heart defects.

The complaint, filed Tuesday on behalf of AGA Medical by Alan G. Carlson of Carlson Caspers Vandenburgh & Lindquist PA in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, alleges that W.L. Gore is infringing AGA Medical's U.S. Patent Number 5,944,738, titled "Percutaneous catheter directed constricting occlusion device."
