De Beers Sues Kohl's, Others Over Jewelry Designs

Law360, New York (August 26, 2010, 4:48 PM EDT) -- A British subsidiary of De Beers SA has accused Kohl's Corp. and several New York-based jewelers of infringing the diamond giant's patents for jewelry designs.

Two separate complaints filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri allege that the jewelers' designs infringe patents for knot rings, bangle bracelets and earrings held by De Beers UK Ltd., the British arm of the South African company.

Both complaints were filed by Andrea M. Kimball of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP.
