VeraSun Gives Union Tank Car $20M Claim Over Leases

Law360, New York (August 27, 2010, 1:30 PM EDT) -- Now-liquidated ethanol company VeraSun Energy Corp. has agreed to allow Union Tank Car Co. to pursue a $20.6 million claim over rejected leases on railcars.

VeraSun filed a motion Thursday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware seeking approval of the settlement, which also allows the Chicago-based rail tank provider to pursue a $291,357 administrative expense.

The claim concerns VeraSun's rejection of a 2006 lease of 600 tank cars that transported ethanol from the company's plants.
