Affymetrix Sues Illumina Over Gene Detection Patent

Law360, New York (August 5, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Affymetrix Inc., the leading producer of gene-detection devices, has sued rival Illumina Inc. over patents for a technology used to track genetic differences and to identify which genes are activated in particular types of cells.

The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, alleges infringement of six Affymetrix patents, related to aspects of software, hardware and arrays, which are used for DNA sequencing and other purposes.
