Trade Secrets Claims Killed In Chip Patent Spat

Law360, New York (September 2, 2010, 4:59 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has nixed misappropriation of trade secrets claims against ASUSTeK Computer Inc. and Winbond Electronics Corp. in a long-running patent infringement suit brought by a former IBM Corp. engineer over computer chip technology.

Judge Ted Stewart for the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah signed off on the third-party defendants' motions for partial summary judgment on Aug. 25 and unsealed the orders on Tuesday, ruling that the claims were time-barred under Utah's three-year statute of limitations.
