Sempra Planning Supreme Court Appeal

Law360, New York (February 22, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Sempra Energy and other power companies will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court a decision forcing energy regulators to reconsider government power contracts penned during California’s energy crisis, the company confirmed Friday.

The companies hope to reverse a December 2006 decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which said the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission erred when it declined to reconsider long-term energy deals signed in 2000 and 2001, when energy prices soared in the West.
