Sale Of Generic Lipitor Blocked In Denmark

Law360, New York (February 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Danish court has allegedly blocked the sale of a generic version of Lipitor until after a patent infringement lawsuit is decided between Pfizer Inc. and generic rival Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd.

The Bailiff’s Court in Copenhagen issued the preliminary injunction against Nomeco A/S—Denmark’s largest wholesaler—requiring it to immediately withdraw Ranbaxy’s generic Lipitor product from the shelves, Pfizer said Friday.

“This ruling is another significant milestone in our defense of Lipitor patents around the world,” said Allen Waxman, Pfizer’s senior vice president and general counsel.
