Law360, New York (September 08, 2010, 6:13 PM ET) -- BMW of North America LLC has been hit with a consumer class action accusing it of trying to conceal potentially dangerous engine malfunctions by surreptitiously installing new software on cars brought in to dealerships for routine maintenance.
The suit, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, claims all BMWs produced since 2007 with the company’s heavily advertised N54 engine contain defective fuel pumps that could cause them to drastically slow down or stall entirely even when traveling at high speeds....
