Alleged Hedge Fund Fraudster Asks For Acquittal

Law360, New York (September 9, 2010, 4:08 PM EDT) -- Laurence Isaacson, an alleged partner in a hedge fund scheme that fleeced investors for more than $500 million, has asked a court for a judgment of acquittal after being found guilty by a Florida jury on one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud.

Isaacson told the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida in a motion on Wednesday that allowing the conviction to stand would amount to a miscarriage of justice, given that evidence weighed so heavily against the jury’s verdict.
