Better Controls Needed On Contractor Data Access: GAO

Law360, New York (September 13, 2010, 6:06 PM EDT) -- A new report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office has found that federal agencies need to take greater precautions to ensure that contractors with access to sensitive government data do not misuse the information.

The report, released Friday, said that agency guidance and standard contract provisions at the U.S. Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services did not go far enough to prevent unauthorized disclosures.
