Adobe, Others Face Uniloc Suit Over Anti-Piracy Patent

Law360, New York (September 15, 2010, 7:04 PM EDT) -- Uniloc USA Inc. has sued Adobe Systems Inc. and nine others alleging infringement of its software activation patent, bringing the number of companies targeted over the patent to 78.

Uniloc filed the complaint Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claiming Adobe and its co-defendants encroached on its intellectual property by offering various software registration and activation systems to customers.

Uniloc has aggressively pursued alleged violations of U.S. Patent Number 5,490,216 since bringing a suit against Microsoft in 2003.
