EU Ends Antitrust Probe Into Electric-Grid Parts Makers

Law360, New York (September 16, 2010, 5:42 PM EDT) -- The European Union’s antitrust arm has closed its investigation into a possible cartel among European electric services companies, according to Swiss technology company ABB Ltd., a target in the investigation.

The European Commission levied no fine against ABB in its investigation of collusion among producers of electrical transmission grid components known as flexible alternating current transmission systems, ABB said in a statement released Tuesday.

The systems are used to increase the power transfer capability of electricity transmission networks.
