DOL Hits Tyson With Gender Discrimination Suit

Law360, New York (September 15, 2010, 7:18 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Labor has sued a Tyson Foods Inc. subsidiary for systematically rejecting female job applicants at a plant in Illinois, even threatening to cancel the company's federal contracts.

The DOL filed the complaint against Tyson Fresh Meats, the world's largest supplier of premium beef and pork. It said the company used hiring and selection practices that discriminated against women seeking entry-level positions at its Joslin, Ill., facility.
