US Withholding Docs On BP Spill Rates, Enviro Claims

Law360, New York (September 17, 2010, 3:41 PM EDT) -- A nonprofit environmental group has accused the U.S. government of withholding a series of e-mails and memos regarding official scientific assessments of the damage caused by the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility filed suit Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, accusing the U.S. Geological Survey of failing to comply with a Freedom of Information Act request for hundreds of documents concerning leak estimates from the BP PLC-owned oil well in the Gulf of Mexico.
