EPA Launches Pollution Probe Of Texas BP Refinery

Law360, New York (September 17, 2010, 4:58 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has launched an investigation into claims that BP PLC emitted more than 500,000 pounds of pollutants from a problem-plagued Texas City, Texas, refinery.

The probe, announced Thursday, follows an investigation by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, which found multiple violations of the state's Clean Air Act at the facility between April 6 and May 16.
