Lancer Fraudster Denied Bond For Financial Woes

Law360, New York (September 17, 2010, 7:28 PM EDT) -- The U.S. government is opposing The Lancer Group insider Martin Garvey's request to recover a $25,000 bond keeping him out of jail, saying the alleged fraudster has misbehaved — including getting busted for driving while intoxicated — and should not be trusted with the money.

Garvey, who allegedly helped Lancer swindle investors out of more than $200 million, cited “financial difficulties” in an Aug. 31 motion in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida asking for his bond back.
