Amgen Kickback Suits Consolidated On Appeal

Law360, New York (September 17, 2010, 4:11 PM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has consolidated eight cases brought by several states and a whistleblower that accuse Amgen Inc. and other companies of providing kickbacks to health care providers to sell more of the anemia drug Aranesp.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit issued an order Thursday that consolidated the cases for the purposes of briefing and oral argument. Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, California, Georgia, New Mexico, Indiana and whistleblower Kassie Westmoreland are all seeking to overturn a lower court decision from April....
