Appeals Court Backs Stem Cell Agency

Law360, New York (February 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A $3 billion stem cell agency in California has gained approval from a state appeals court after it rejected allegations by anti-abortion and anti-tax groups that the agency was unconstitutional and riddled with conflicts of interest.

On Monday, the California Court of Appeal for the First District affirmed the decision by the Alameda County Superior Court last April siding with the agency, which was established when Proposition 71 was passed by 59% of the electorate in 2004.
