Judge Throws Out Suit Over 9/11 Pollution Claims

Law360, New York (September 20, 2010, 6:09 PM EDT) -- A judge has dismissed a hotel developer's suit against World Trade Center LLC, American Airlines Inc., United Airlines Inc. and others over pollution stemming from the 9/11 attacks, claiming the federal Superfund law was not intended for such disasters.

Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein issued a ruling from the bench on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York throwing out the suit filed by Cedar & Washington Associates LLC, which sought as much as $50 million in clean-up costs.
