Ion Award Cut To $11M In Seismic Sensor Patent Suit

Law360, New York (September 22, 2010, 5:40 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has affirmed a jury's verdict that Sercel Inc. infringed an Ion Geophysical Corp. patent for seismic sensor technology used in the oil and gas industry, but cut the damages award from $25.2 million to $10.7 million.

Ruling on several post-trial motions, Judge David Folsom of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Sept. 16 nixed one theory of infringement but otherwise sustained the jury’s verdict on infringement and on the validity of Ion's patent.
