Hiring Race Bias Claim Against Covington Tossed

Law360, New York (September 22, 2010, 4:13 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has thrown out a black ex-Covington & Burling LLP staff attorney’s claim that the firm disproportionately hired black lawyers to fill staff, as opposed to associate, positions.

Judge Reggie Walton of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia said in an order Tuesday that plaintiff Yolanda Young had not proved the firm’s job assignment policy had a disparate impact on black attorneys.
