Australia Gives Nod To Virgin Blue-Etihad Alliance

Law360, New York (September 23, 2010, 4:35 PM EDT) -- Australia's competition authority on Thursday gave interim approval to a proposed alliance between Australia's Virgin Blue and the United Arab Emirates' Etihad Airways, a move that will allow them to begin marketing coordinated flight schedules starting in October.

With the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's tentative approval, the group will on Oct. 1 begin selling flights on a combined network with more than 100 destinations, the companies said.
