Ace Off Hook For Ritz Hotel's Katrina Damage

Law360, New York (September 27, 2010, 6:14 PM EDT) -- Ace American Insurance Co. does not have to cover damages to The Ritz Carlton New Orleans caused by Hurricane Katrina because the hotel's policy excluded renovation work, a judge has ruled.

Judge Jay C. Zainey of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana ruled Friday that an exception to renovation work in the insurer's contract with hotel owner WH Holdings LLC applied to the damage done to the hotel's facade.
