MeadWestvaco Can't Nix School Supply Antitrust Suit

Law360, New York (September 29, 2010, 6:54 PM EDT) -- MeadWestvaco Corp. has lost its bid to get antitrust claims thrown out in a lawsuit accusing the global packaging conglomerate of monopolizing the market for school supplies and “dated goods” such as calendars and datebooks.

Judge Dean D. Pregerson denied Mead's motion to dismiss the case on all but one California state law claim, which the plaintiffs were granted leave to amend, in an order on Sept. 23 in the U.S. Court for the Central District of California.
