Gunnison Sage-Grouse Denied Endangered Listing

Law360, New York (September 28, 2010, 6:12 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has determined that the Gunnison sage-grouse warrants protection under the Endangered Species Act, but that its listing is precluded by the need to address higher priority species.

The Gunnison sage-grouse, a ground-dwelling bird found only in southwestern Colorado and extreme southeastern Utah, will be placed on the candidate list for future action, and its status will be reviewed annually, the FWS said Monday.
