EU Settles With ENI In Gas Monopoly Case

Law360, New York (September 29, 2010, 2:57 PM EDT) -- The European Commission on Wednesday settled an antitrust investigation of Eni SpA's dominant position in Italy's gas markets after the energy giant agreed to divest its stake in three international transport pipelines to the country.

The EC said those commitments by Eni, the main gas company in Italy, will ensure more open access on gas pipelines while also promoting competition and potentially lowering the gas supply costs for homes and business in Italy.
