L-3 Sues Intergraph Over Navy Ship Hardware Deal

Law360, New York (September 30, 2010, 4:01 PM EDT) -- L-3 Communications Corp. has accused Intergraph Corp. of providing subpar hardware for a navigation system on the bridge of a U.S. Navy amphibious assault ship.

L-3 filed its one-count complaint Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, naming Alabama-based Intergraph as the sole defendant.

In 2002, shipbuilder Northrop Grumman Corp. won a Navy contact to build a Wasp-class assault ship called the USS Makin Island, and in 2003, Northrop gave L-3 subsidiary Henschel Inc. a contract to furnish hardware for the vessel,...
