Parallel DOJ, SEC Probes Were Legal, Feds Say

Law360, New York (October 1, 2010, 5:27 PM EDT) -- The federal government has said it did not violate the rights of defendants in a pump-and-dump criminal case when the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice conducted a parallel investigation and allegedly shared information.

The two agencies asked the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia on Thursday to reject a bid by the defendants, all officers of Conversion Solutions Holding Corp., to either suppress evidence or throw out the criminal indictment because of the allegedly improper information sharing....
