Exxon, Others Face Another Suit Over MTBE Pollution

Law360, New York (October 05, 2010, 3:31 PM ET) -- Pattonsburg, Mo., has become the latest municipality to target Chevron Corp., Exxon Mobil Corp., Shell Oil Co. and more than a dozen other petroleum giants over the contamination of its water supply with the gasoline additive methyl tertiary-butyl ether.

The northern Missouri city claims that the defendants knew about the dangers of the potentially cancerous additive yet still chose to promote its use to Congress and the public, according to a complaint filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri....
