Google Shoves Back On Oracle’s Java IP Claims

Law360, New York (October 5, 2010, 7:35 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. has denied claims brought by an Oracle Corp. unit alleging the search engine giant’s Android software for mobile devices violates Java patents and copyrights and has accused Oracle of taking issue with open-source licensing policies it once backed.

Google on Monday lodged an answer to Oracle America Inc.’s complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California claiming Oracle’s patents-in-suit are invalid and also urged the court in a separate motion to throw out the plaintiff’s copyright allegations.
