DOJ Looking At Improper Foreclosure Allegations

Law360, New York (October 6, 2010, 8:00 PM EDT) -- U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday that the Department of Justice is examining allegations that financial institutions may have mishandled mortgage foreclosures in violation of the law.

In recent weeks, media reports have detailed the practices of mortgage lenders and servicers who improperly process foreclosure orders, fail to respond to borrowers quickly, misplace documents, mislead borrowers, or fail to properly vet relevant documents.
