MGA Spying Claims Live On In Mattel Bratz Spat

Law360, New York (October 7, 2010, 7:08 PM EDT) -- The federal judge overseeing the bitter intellectual property feud over Bratz dolls has refused to dismiss MGA Entertainment Inc.'s racketeering and theft of trade secrets allegations against rival toy maker Mattel Inc., whose employees allegedly spied on MGA at toy conventions.

Judge David O. Carter of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Tuesday found that the companies' claims, counterclaims and counterclaims-in-reply shared a logical relationship to one another and therefore shouldn't be dismissed.
