Invalidity Of Acacia Patents Affirmed By Fed. Circ.

Law360, New York (October 8, 2010, 5:35 PM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has upheld the invalidity of five patents related to audio and video transmission technology that Acacia Media Technologies Corp. asserted in multidistrict litigation against DirecTV Group Inc., Time Warner Cable Inc. and more than three dozen other media companies.

A three-judge panel in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed a lower court's final judgment that the asserted patents were invalid due to indefiniteness on Thursday, just two days after the appellate court heard oral arguments in the case....
