Reliant Unit To Shell Out $22M Over Trading Episode

Law360, New York (March 7, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Reliant Energy Services Inc. has agreed to fork over $22.2 million to the government to settle a pending indictment related to a trading incident that occurred years ago.

On Tuesday, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the energy giant revealed that it had brokered a deferred prosecution agreement with the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Francisco.

In a statement, Reliant indicated that the indictment was connected to allegations that revolved around a trading incident that took place in June 2000.
