Obama OKs UK, Australia Defense Trade Deals

Law360, New York (October 11, 2010, 3:35 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama has given the green light to defense trade cooperation treaties with the United Kingdom and Australia in a bid to streamline the process of exporting military-related goods.

The measure, signed into law by the president Friday, allows for the removal of export licenses for defense items related to joint military operations with the two countries, which are two of the U.S.’ closest allies.

The move crystallizes the Security Cooperation Act of 2010, which was approved by the U.S. Senate in September.
