CBOE Unit Sues ISE Over Options Exchange Patent

Law360, New York (October 12, 2010, 2:26 PM EDT) -- A subsidiary of the Chicago Board Options Exchange Inc.'s parent company has accused rival exchange operator International Securities Exchange LLC of infringing its patent for the operation of an automated securities exchange.

C2 Options Exchange Inc., a subsidiary of CBOE Holdings Inc., filed the complaint on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, alleging that ISE's U.S. Patent Number 6,618,707, "Automated exchange for trading derivative securities," is invalid, unenforceable and not infringed by C2.
