Supreme Court To Tackle Induced Infringement Case

Law360, New York (October 12, 2010, 4:53 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Tuesday to review a $4.88 million ruling in favor of French appliance maker SEB SA, which could help to clarify the law surrounding induced patent infringement.

The high court granted appliance maker Pentalpha Enterprises Ltd.'s writ of certiorari, which will give it a chance to address an aspect of patent law that lower courts have long disagreed on – whether actual knowledge of a patent is necessary to prove an inducement claim.
