Sony Asks To Exit Optical Disk Drive Antitrust MDL

Law360, New York (October 14, 2010, 1:33 PM EDT) -- Sony Corp. has asked a federal court to dismiss it from sprawling antitrust multidistrict litigation accusing dozens of companies of colluding to fix prices for optical disk drives, saying the plaintiffs have not proffered sufficient factual evidence to establish that Sony committed any wrongdoing.

Nowhere in 193 pages of allegations do the plaintiffs identify an occasion when Sony reached any unlawful agreement or even communicated with a competitor outside of ordinary industry events such as trade associations and patent pools, according to a motion to dismiss...
