Fewer Contract Dollars Spark Fiercer Fights In 2011

Law360, New York (October 20, 2010, 5:54 PM EDT) -- Companies are facing stiff competition for federal contracts in the new fiscal year, with a 5 percent decrease in agency budgets expected to bring stricter enforcement, more frequent protests and tougher fights over the estimated $142 billion of opportunities in play, experts say.

A pair of reports recently released by contract market analyst firms Input and FedSources predict fewer new contracting opportunities ahead in fiscal year 2011, which will likely be driven by more recompeted and consolidated contracts, and dominated by defense acquisitions.
