UN Agency Adopts Carbon Cap For Aviation Sector

Law360, New York (October 14, 2010, 1:06 PM EDT) -- The UN's global aviation agency has agreed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from airplanes, marking the first time that such action has been taken in a specific economic sector.

Following a meeting in Montreal that ended Oct. 8, the International Civil Aviation Organization adopted a new set of provisions that will cap greenhouse gas emissions from international aviation at 2020 levels and will improve fuel efficiency by 2 percent annually.
