Nuclear Energy Imperils E.U. Climate Change Plan

Law360, New York (March 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- European Union leaders on Friday agreed to an ambitious set of measures to reduce global warming far and beyond current Kyoto Protocol levels. But divisions over how to reach that goal are already threatening to derail the newly formed pact.

The plan, revealed at a conference in Brussels, will require greenhouse gas emissions to be cut by at least 20% from 1990 levels in the next 13 years, and ensure that at least a fifth of the E.U.’s energy will come from renewable energy sources....
