Sharp, Philips End 3G Patent Scrap Against Motorola

Law360, New York (October 18, 2010, 12:46 PM EDT) -- Motorola Inc. has reached a settlement with plaintiffs Koninklijke Philips Electronics NV and Sharp Corp. in a suit over eight patents the defendant previously licensed for cell phones that use 3G wireless technology.

Judge William G. Young of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Friday approved the settlement and dismissed the suit, which Philips and Sharp launched after Motorola’s license for the patents-in-suit came to an end.
