Railroad Cos. Look To Share Liability For PCB Cleanup

Law360, New York (October 18, 2010, 6:48 PM EDT) -- Conrail Inc. and Norfolk Southern Railway Co. have sued Acme Scrap Iron & Metal Co., hoping to force the company to share in the costs of cleaning up chemical pollution in an Ohio River.

The two companies filed their third-party complaint Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, reviving their claims against a company that once ran a ship-demolishing operation on property owned by Conrail and later sold to Norfolk Southern.
