Universal Music Settles Copyright Case With Video Site

Law360, New York (March 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Universal Music Group has agreed to drop its copyright infringement suit against online video site Bolt.com for a multimillion-dollar sum.

The recording label announced in a joint statement with Bolt Inc. Thursday that it had reached an out-of-court settlement over the Web site’s alleged unauthorized use of copyrighted music and video content.

UMG Chairman and CEO Doug Morris said the company was pleased it had resolved the litigation in an amicable fashion, and that Bolt had recognized the labels “rights under law.”
