Horizon To Pay $22M To End NJ Ambulatory Care Suits

Law360, New York (October 19, 2010, 11:17 AM EDT) -- A magistrate judge has preliminarily approved a $22 million class action settlement between Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and 130 Garden State ambulatory surgery centers over claims that the insurer failed to provide due benefits in violation of employment law.

The deal, which received preliminary blessing Monday from Magistrate Judge Madeline Cox Arleo of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, would include claims dating back to 2009 and increase reimbursements for claims made from 2011 to 2013.
